Sunglasses & Reading Glasses
There are several reasons to buy sunglasses. They're a great fashion accessory, but a good quality pair of sunglasses does more than just look good.
UV Protection: Ultraviolet radiation from sunlight can damage the eyes, causing cataracts and macular degeneration. A good pair of sunglasses protects the eyes from the UV rays.
Wind Protection: Wind causes problems, by drying out your eyes, and by blowing about dust and debris, which can get into your eyes, and damage them. Sunglasses provide protection, by blocking the wind, and windblown debris from your eyes.
Glare Reduction: Light, reflecting off of water, snow, car windshields, and such, causes bright reflections. These reflections can be distracting, and if you're driving, they can be dangerous. Sunglasses, particularly polarized sunglasses, reduce the glare, and make it much easier to see.
Eyestrain Reduction: In dim light, your pupils expand to let more light into your eyes. As the light gets brighter, the pupils contract to let less light in. In very bright conditions, the pupils are unable to contract enough, causing a person to squint. Squinting can lead to muscle fatigue, and the constriction of the pupil can cause headaches and eyestrain. A pair of sunglasses reduces the light, eliminating the need to squint.
